What makes Huckleberry Adventure Days different from traditional dog daycare or group walks?

Traditional daycares and group walks can lack the stimulation and enrichment active dogs crave. At HuckleDays, we offer full-day, off-lead adventures in nature and off the beaten track - think loch swims, forest trails, and hill climbs, Our bespoke experiences provide the physical, mental, and emotional enrichment that static set-ups and short group walks simply can't match.

How long is a typical adventure day?

Pick-ups start at 9am each day. Your dog will be out for approximately 6 hours total, including snacks, rest and travel time. The adventure walk itself is 3-4hrs long. They'll be lovingly settled at home fulfilled and happy, ready to relax for the evening. We can even feed your pup, if you're not going to be home for a while.

How do you ensure dogs are safe and well-matched off-lead?

We carefully select dogs of similar age and temperament to form consistent, bonded groups. This approach fosters positive socialisation and ensures every dog feels comfortable and engaged.
An initial meet & greet is followed by rounds of trial days in different environments, assessing recall as well as exposure to wildlife, livestock and dogs we may come across, outside our Huckleberry pack. We will always be honest and transparent if we don't feel this is the right fit for your dog, or our pack and will help you explore other options.

Does my dog need perfect recall to join the pack?

While your dog needs to have reasonable recall it doesn't need to be perfect. We understand that many young and active dogs are still learning. What matters most to us is that each dog in our club is kind-natured, sociable and thrives in a group. It is also important that they want to follow their pack leader and stick with their friends.

While we're always happy to reinforce good habits during our adventures, we're not a behavioural training service. if any areas need improvement, we expect our clients to take an active role in their dog's development and put in the time where improvements are needed, so that they can remain part of the pack.

Are you insured?

Yes, we carry comprehensive insurance covering our vehicle, business operations, public liability, and client key handling. We are fastidious in securing client houses, with safety and professionalism sitting at the top of our priorities.

How do I know where my dog has been and what they've been up to?

You'll receive an update on the day's route location, duration and miles covered, along with a GPS mapped image of our location. You'll also receive a fab curated video highlight reel of our shenanigans, along with beautiful photos and pet portraits of your dog's adventure.

Do you offer pick-up and drop off services?

Absolutely. Our HuckleBus provides comfortable, secure transport for your dog, ensuring a stress-free experience from start to finish. Transport is included in our daily rate.

Do you take all breeds?

For health and/or insurance related reasons we are unable to take the following;

• Short muzzled breeds (Brachycephalic)
• Miniature breeds
• Sight Hounds
• Scent Hounds
• Terriers

Are there any age restrictions?

Due to the long form nature of our walks and often high-impact of our activities they are not suitable for dog's under 1 year old, who's joints are still forming and are vulnerable to injury.
While there is no rigid upper age limit we would consider on a case by case basis any enquiries concerning dogs over 8 years of age. While they'll always be a puppy in your eyes they are considered "Senior dogs" within insurance policies and 3hrs of walking may not be suitable for them.

Do you walk in all weathers?

Yes, we do! Rain, shine or snow - we get out there to enjoy everything the wild has to offer. In the rare case of extreme conditions, such as extreme heat or icy roads which could make travel dangerous, we will base our decision on ensuring the safety of our dogs and staff.

Do you take un-neutered males / un-spayed females?

We do not take un-neutered adult males. We will consider un-spayed females but require agreement to guidelines set out in our T&C's (available on request).

Can we drop to you if we're outside your pickup area?

Sadly, no. Despite best efforts there can always be something outside of a client's control that may delay them getting to us (city traffic, roadworks etc.). We run a tight schedule, with dog's waiting for us.

Is it possible to have one adventure per week?

We find that dogs attending one day per week find it harder to settle and bond to the group. We require a minimum commitment of two adventures per week.
